Our teacher highlight this week is Amy Willoughby Burle!
Here are some things to know about Amy:
I teach 12 classes. Two art classes, two grammar based classes (Excellence in Writing), as well as two creative writing classes. I also teach preschool 26 Letters from A to Z as well as an early writing class for 1-3 grade called I Can Write. I also teach 15 Things Health. 15 Things Culture and Civilization and 15 Things Early Education.
In my spare time (haha) I like to write fiction.
My super power would be to snap my fingers and all my housework would be done. I’d be happy to come to other people’s houses and “clean” as well.
Fun fact about me: I’m a bad speller and although I can type quickly and without looking at the keys it isn’t the “proper” way to type. I learned my own made up way after having to type numerous papers in college and from doing my own fiction writing. I always tell people this because I think that people think in order to be good at something you have to be good at everything that involves that thing. I’m writer, but even though I struggle with spelling and don’t the proper way to type, I still consider myself pretty good at it. 🙂
Elevate is my dream job. When I was young I wanted to be a mother, a teacher, and a writer. God has blessed me with the opportunity to do all those things. At Elevate, I get to spend all day with kids talking about writing. What could be better?

What classes do you teach?
I teach Pre-Ballet, Ballet/Jazz, and Introduction to Ballet and Creative Movement
What do you like to do for fun?
I like to bake, grow plants, read, watch movies, hike and get together with friends.
Is there a fun fact about yourself that you would like for people to know?
I find it impossible to pick a favorite color, food, season etc (so I’m glad you didn’t ask that!) Each one has it’s unique beauty and purpose!
If you could have any super power, what would it be?

Check out the fun our students had in Build It on Wednesday. Today’s goal was to build the tallest tower only using clothes pins and popsicle sticks. In this class, students have the chance to work on multiple projects. They are given guidelines to plan and build structures using a variety of supplies and our creative minds. This is a great STEM class for your little engineers!

Here are some things to know about Jeremiah:
“I teach Musical Theatre Dance as well as Drama.
I love to mess around with music, work on choreography for different pieces, and I also dabble in book-binding.
I love collecting records, especially special edition ones.
Turning Invisible would be awesome.
I love elevate because it constantly looks for new ways to reach out and give to the community around it.”

Our teacher highlight this week is Caitlin Barnes!
Here are some things to know about Caitlin:
“I teach Clogging, Computer wizards, Build it, and I assist with Wild and Crazy Science! I also direct the Afterschool Program and Summer Camp.
For fun I play with my dog/child, Darla, and I love to spend time outside!
I went to college on a Clogging scholarship and traveled to Billingham, England to clog for an International Folk Festival summer of 2013.
If I could have any super power, I would love to have the ability to understand and communicate with all animals.
I love Elevate because there are so many wonderful opportunities for students to learn things and wonderful opportunities for me to teach kids the things I love!”
