I want to fly so badly! ?”

During the class, the students did a power-up brain activity before moving onto the actual tower building. All of this involved only popsicle sticks and little cups.

Elevate Winter Carnival

February 13, 2017 by Josa Worthy

It was great to see so many new and returning faces at this year’s Winter Carnival and Open House. Families enjoyed building marshmallow catapults with Cheryl Mimken, dry-ice experiments with Kier Klepzig, making fun Valentine’s Day crafts with Amy Burle, and learning about history while coloring with Helen Kinser. Kids also had a chance to play and learn about different instruments with senior student Rocky Spagnuelo and meet several of our dance and music teachers including; Jeremiah Mimken and Josa Worthy (Music Theater Dance, Kids Choir), Emma Worthy (Hip Hop), and Edie Hunt (Guitar, Story/Song/Symphony). Little girls hung out with senior student Amelia Lundgren and got to be a ballerina for an afternoon. They colored pictures of ballerinas with all the colors of the rainbow and got to wear their favorite color tutus while doing it. Heather Biard brought her spinning wheel and showed off some beautiful pieces of fabric and Danielle Eavenson gave us a peak inside the world of Herbal Medicine. Wonderful volunteers, Rachel Peniston and Joey Liner, painted faces before the kids ran off to get a free bag of popcorn or go sing karaoke with Elevate student Samantha Worthy and her friend Megan Fischer. Families had fun, registered for our current Enrichment Classes, and met a handful of our wonderful teachers.

If you missed the Spring Winter Carnival there will be another Open House in the Fall, but if you can’t wait that long, come on out to our Spring Showcase on May 12th and 13th!

Student Highlight – Tori

October 25, 2016 by Braelyn Whiteside

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Meet our student of the week, Tori! Tori is taking many classes at Elevate this year, nine in total. Out of the variety of classes, her favorite one is Intro to Photography with Helen Kinser.

When asked what her hobbies were, she responded with, “Netflix, eating, and taking pictures. That’s about it.” I also asked her if she had any pets, and she said she had a hermit crab—and that she couldn’t remember his name. LOL.

If Tori was a superhero with any superpower, she would have telekinesis. And if she couldn’t be any animal, “I don’t want to be animal.”

“If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?”

“I would live in Italy, Venice, or New Orleans.”

Thanks for being you, Tori!
