This year long Civics course is a combination of Government, Economics and Life Skills. The goal of this course is to prepare students to participate in exercising their political responsibilities as wise and informed citizens. Emphasis will be placed on critical thinking skills as we explore our American government and economic system and research current local, state, and national civics issues. Emphasis will also be placed on learning important and practical life skills such as career exploration, personal finances, money saving habits, communication and much more. The course will consist of weekly reading and video assignments, internet research, and note-taking at home. Weekly class time will consist of group discussions, review, videos, note-taking, quizzes and occasionally, guest speakers.
